For 75 years, museum exhibition space ICA Boston has been at the forefront in identifying and supporting the most important artists of its time and bringing them to U.S. audiences. The ICA functions as an arts laboratory of innovation in technique, materials, genre, et al through exhibitions, performance, film, and programming.
The ICA’s bi-monthly exhibition catalog was itself an artistic piece sent to members to keep them informed and engaged with current and upcoming shows, events, and acquisitions. With a minimalist style, the square matte booklet framed featured pieces of works of international acclaim. For Marlene Dumas: One Hundred Models and Endless Rejects, we unevenly cropped and slightly misaligned the four portraits, juxtaposing the poses and expressions to convey the inner tension and Dumas’ questioning of beauty and representation. 4
