Nancy Pearl: Book Lust Brand Identity and Website
For renowned librarian, NPR Personality and author Nancy Pearl, best known for her Book Lust series, this project focused on developing a distinctive brand identity and digital platform to support her role as a trusted literary voice. Created in collaboration with Sasquatch Books, the objective was to build a brand that balanced editorial authority with warmth, accessibility, and personality.
The identity system is anchored by a bold, highly legible typographic approach paired with a custom illustrated representation of Nancy Pearl. This character-driven element introduces a sense of approachability and delight—capturing her recognizable persona while reinforcing the joy, curiosity, and abundance associated with reading. The illustration serves as a flexible brand asset, creating immediate recognition and differentiation within a typically restrained literary category.
The website was designed as a content-forward platform, structured to support discovery across a large and diverse body of book recommendations, appearances, and publications. A clear information architecture and intuitive navigation system enable users to browse by category, theme, and interest, transforming an extensive catalog into an engaging and usable experience.
Visually, the digital experience extends the identity through a cohesive system of typography, color, and editorial layout. Subtle textures and a warm palette create an inviting tone, while maintaining clarity and readability across devices. The result is a scalable digital ecosystem that balances personality with performance—supporting both content exploration and audience engagement.
