Fossil Tin

Established in 1984, Fossil is an iconic American lifestyle brand inspired by vintage looks, and known for their watches and travel accessories. And for designers, Fossil is also revered for its retro sensibilities, especially with regard to their packaging design – the Fossil tin.

On the occasion of Fossil’s thirtieth anniversary, Design Active crafted two tins inspired by travel and the open road. One of the tins features a close-up of a bicycle wheel with a card flapping in the spokes – an alternative take on travel that was inspired by old Schwinn’s, Portland’s identity as a biking city, and the American tradition of placing a playing card in the wheel spokes. The other tin features a 50’s retro illustration style of a road trip across America – from Sasquatch in Seattle to the plains of the heartland to the cowboys of the southwest.
